One of the perks of working for a company like BookaSpa is that I get to visit some fabulous places. Places where you go into your room and feel very lucky that this is actually part of your job. (FYI this isn’t leading up to a job posting!). I can assure you that Homewood Park is one of these wonderful places which I highly recommend.
Located about 30mins outside of the spa town of Bath, Homewood Park is set in the rolling hills on the outskirts. I arrived on a cold, miserable November afternoon to be welcomed into the traditional country house hotel by a cosy fire and a bow-tie wearing jazz band (playing as part of their jazz Sunday lunches). It seemed like the perfect antidote to the weather outside.
I was lucky enough to be staying in one of their individually decorated suites (see below), of which the highlight were the huge bed and wonderful roll top bath. I had a look at some other rooms in the hotel whilst I was there and they are all equally stylish, and over half have the roll top baths.

After I had unpacked I went the short distance over to the spa for an afternoon of pampering. The spa at Homewood Park has only recently been built, and like the rest of the hotel it’s very stylish, but unlike the hotel had quite a modern feeling (whereas the hotel feels timeless). To me it had quite a Scandinavian feeling thanks to the wooden panelling. Although on the small side, it’s the perfect way to spend an afternoon. Facilities include a steam room, sauna, hydrotherapy pool and a heated outdoor pool (I have to say I only dipped my toe in that!). I enjoyed a back massage, which was excellent, and made all the better by the Comfort Zone products and the heated massage beds. It was pure bliss and a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

One thing that we hear consistently from our customers, who have visited Homewood Park, is how delicious the food was. So it was with great expectation that I went along to dinner, and I wasn’t disappointed. The food is what I would describe as traditional English executed to a very high standard. I had cauliflower puree to start, followed by roast pork with excellent crackling and finally a delicious sticky toffee pudding to finish. From what I could tell all the produce was seasonal and locally sourced. I retired to my room absolutely stuffed but thoroughly satisfied. The breakfast in the morning was just as delicious.
I highly recommend Homewood Park, especially for an intimate trip away with your loved one, or a really special family holiday. It’s not the lowest priced hotel on our site, but in my opinion its excellent value for money as the rooms, spa, service and food were top quality.
